  • Dave Fox - Performer / Instructor

    Dave stays very active with a full teaching load of over 40 students and several ensembles per week.  For 11 seasons, he was the director of both the award-winning fall and winter marching percussion programs at Blackstone-Millville Regional High School in Blackstone, MA and is currently the Percussion Department Chair and Jazz Faculty member at Indian Hill Music Center in Littleton, MA. He also teaches percussion lessons, Summer Drum Camp and the youth drum ensemble at MJ’s Music School in Waltham, MA. His marching experience includes The Crossmen (1997), Star of Indiana’s Brass Theatre (1996) and The Umass Minuteman Marching Band (1993-1997). He has been a staff member of Thom Hannum’s Mobile Percussion Seminar since 1998 and in 2004 became a member of the Vic Firth Education Team as a Marching Percussion Specialist. He has had the privilege of being a student of master percussionists Walter Tokarczyk, Thom Hannum, Billy Ward and has been a long time student of master drummer Bob Gullotti.

    Dave’s students range from ages 5 to 58 with a wide range of experience ranging from beginner to working professional. 

     “I believe in creating a very strong foundation based upon mastering basic technique, reading, rudiments and timekeeping. Though this, we can then work together to develop a sound and approach that will be applicable to a number of styles such as Jazz, Rock, Funk, Latin and Hip Hop. Other topics covered along the way will be Soloing, Transcription, Musical Development and Equipment Care and Tuning. It is my goal to prepare the student for whatever creative and stylistic avenue they want to pursue with their playing, education and career.”
